I've climbed the career ladder with the Internet and at present I am the National Sales Director for a Tier-1 National Internet Provider. I maintain residences in four states (as noted above) because the United States is, in fact, my territory and I travel like crazy! If you can't picture me as the executive I am these days then don't worry - I can't either! :) I was unique when I graduated Sheepshead in 1988... The mentioning of Captain Walters and Connies Pizza where two favorites. But who and what I'd really like to here about is the Fun House and some of my fellow Fun House freaks that went to Sheepshead in the early 80's. Some of them must still be around. In 1988 I moved out of Sheepshead Bay and lived in New Jersey for several years selling, servicing, and supporting Apple Computer systems ( I'm glad I got out of that). Currently I live in lower Manhattan and am enjoying being single. Some of my friends from then and now are Mitchell Blustein and Marc Sussman, some old friends like Louie Cardone and Robert Veneza I'd like to here from. Also I was hanging out mostly outside of school and becoming a Test Tube Burnout, it's a wonder I ever graduated, I also can't forget cutting out of class and going to Burger King only to be chased out by the Dean. Sheepshead was an experience hanging out in the basement in the Guitar Room, going to Mr. Snyders Print class, Losing Mr. Melendez (EMS Teacher), and Bowling Gym at Rainbow Lanes. God I miss those young carefree days (sort of), well nowadays I'm living and working in Maryland and come back to Sheepshead Bay every now and then to visit family and friends. Attended same, Shell Bank, and graduted Sheepshead Bay HS in 1982. Voted Class Clown by class and appeared in Topaz year book in a Gorrilla suit. Played Sax in various bands & was musical coordinator in Sing 82. Led band at graduation at Lincoln center in NY while wearing rubber nose & glasses. Was suspended for 3 days for coersing band class to drop pants for the yearbook picture, & mailed 8x10 glossy of act to band teachers wife (Mrs. Slamow). Spent countless nights driving up and down Nostrand Avenue with my best friend and side kick Peter Kornfeld (still) in his 455 Buick Electra. (at 12 mpg, we had to siphon a lot of gas. sorry if you were a hapless victim!) Martins was the place of choice for cheese burger deluxes after a late night Sing/Band rehersal. Mei-Mei rice and gravy was a staple while I was in Shell bank. Delmar is still the best pizza in the world. I still import it to the Jersey shore (where I now reside) whenever I get the chance. I'm now married with 2 kids, ages 11 years and 6 months (nice planning huh?). Despite majoring in hooliganism while attending Sheepshead HS. I've managed to behave myself long enough to build a career. At present, I'm Vice President of Securities Analytics at Merrill Lynch in New York. (Mike Basile a Vice President??? Sell all your stock of Merrill Lynch! Someone at that company has lost their mind!) It's a shame what has become of the old neighborhood. This site is a great idea. I welcome all Sheepshead Bay stories from loyal Brooklynites, where ever you may now reside. |

My father was the Mgr. of Senior's Restaurant (now gone), I had friends who worked at Joe's Clam Bar (also gone). I worked at the Marquis Room for Sid, (the Marquis room is gone). I know that Sid (a friend of Dad's) died but I don't know what ever happend to Billy. I worked at the Amoco Station on the corner of Nostrand and Y (It's a Store 24 now). I remember "The Video Store" when it first opened (I helped clean out the basement). Who can forget "Bionic Bagels"? I also went to PS 52 and Shellbank. I am now living in Florida and married with a daughter. The things I miss and remember most about Brooklyn is the neighborhood atmosphere. Ya don't get that down here in FL, everyone is a transplant from somewhere else (mostly NY, LOL). I miss Roll n Roaster, Fiorentino's Italian Restaurant, Mei Mei's and Connie's Pizzeria. I was a big Roller Palace girl until it turned into Jack LaLane/Bally's. I also use to go to Captain Walters or hang out at El Greco's diner. Went to P.S. 52, Shellbank, graduated SBHS in 1981 (actually in January....I don't remember if I was THAT smart...or just desperate to get out of there!). After receiving my masters degree I realized I couldn't stand one more cold winter in NY so I moved down to Florida (now I don't feel forced to have that perfect tan in only 2 months!). I was into Sing when I was at SBHS, dancer/choreographer, so I mostly knew all the other "theatre nerds" like myself! I lived across the street from that disgusting Plum Beach, but from my view on the 6th floor, it was actually beautiful (I don't think I had such a great water view since!). Now I am at a junior at Vassar studying Biology and Russian literature. Of course, I still keep in touch with Melanie Sacharny and a few other people. I would like to thank all the teachers who taught me and prepared me for the life after SBHS. Mr. Beiser, your AP Bio class saved my butt freshman year of college - thanks =) Mr. Schweky, all those hours of editing the paper definitely taught me some wonderful work habits.
