Comments: I just finished Typing in over 800 names (with hyperlinks to the appropriate 1970 Topaz page) into an Excel Spreadsheet. When I went to sort the names, the names sorted but the hyperlinks didn't (Found out From Microsoft, that there's a little bug in Excel) Anyhow to make a long story short, Steve Brooks figured out a solution (Thanks Steve, your check is in the mail -NOT!, oh and thanks for the SBHS letter "S" Gif file I "borrowed" too.) This should solve a major problem that has existed with the 1970 Topaz for the last 28 years (is Technology great, or what?) namely of having four different sections of student pictures. Brennan and Carr still has roast beef sandwich dripping with gravy. Playing paddleball at 286 schoolyard followed by a drive to the beach (Manhattan or Neponsit) to cool off. The inscrutable Steve Halpern was surely the master of that black ball game. Where's Mike Karp and Fran Kaplan who shared the walk home daily with me? Fifteen cent pizza and ten cent cokes for lunch in Jr. High with David Weiss. When did anyone last play scully? What a treat to still see Shel Goldfarb and Howie Friedman regularly. Comments: The only way to describe growing up in bklyn , is to say it was just " OUT OF SIGHT ". Hanging out ...so many places to hang . Going out ...so many places to go. What ever we had didn't matter...but hanging out and going out , that usually determined who you were , and what became of you . I went to PS183 , Sommers JHS 252 , then Tilden HS . I hung out in Bowling alleys, Sid Gordons and Colony Bowl . From there we would go out to places like the Action House and Lou's in L.I. We went to the city and hung at Nepentha , Wednesday's , The Drugstore , and let's not forget The Fillmore East . Around 1970 I started to travel to Puerto Rico every holiday long Week-end. What a hot spot . There I met my wife of 25 years , Georgia . We have one son , Darren Today my wife and I run a retail outerwear store on Staten Is. We started our biz over 20 yrs. ago . We expect to some day move to Fla. , where alot of bklyn people live , today . Would love to hear from old friends, acquaintances and honeys from the old days .

I am a Certified Medical Assistant, took nursing courses, was an EMT for approximately 10 years, and now am an educator. I found the page from Charon Piansky, who now lives in Maine. My special friends back then were Charon, Phyllis Lipsky, and Karen Ober (who we are trying to locate.) Karen was married to an Eric (can't think of his last name) who graduated in 1964. He used to live either on Ford, Coyle, or one of those side streets. Went back to see the old building, and found out that practically noone knows about the tiles outside the auditorium. '69 was such an exciting and turbulent time-a time when having a prom seemed so shallow and worthless, when going down to the Village to buy protest buttons was the best use of a Saturday afternoon. I remember political seriousness and sophomoric humor proliferating in the basement office of the Bay Times where I was an editor. Singing and sewing in "Sing" and wishing I had the nerve to be on stage instead of in the chorus. And so, as for all of us,who despite our worst fears and best intentions grow up to be what we were meant to be, I became a storyteller and puppeteer now in the Albany, New York area. Anyway we all know what happened to Elayne. I moved to Florida twenty years ago, got married twenty six years ago, have two great daughters, one who is a speech therapist and got married last year and one who is finishing her first year in college. If anyone was looking for me I could usually be found hanging out at Ropage (aka Doc's) or Martin's on Nostrand Ave. Do you remember the Brooklyn Dodgers, Alan Freed, DooWop, the B36(Surf Ave.)Bus that would take us almost anywhere in the world, and the nightly Submarine Races at Plum Beach? Who can forget the Saddle Inn, and the rumors about what went on upstairs? Actually that was where George, the owner lived. What great times those were.

Ate lots of takeout from Marty & Lloyd's & Tung On on Ave. U. Spent my summers taking the Ocean Ave. bus to the bay & then walking over the bridge to Manhattan Beach. Last summer I met an old Cunningham friend - Maureen Walters who now lives in Baldwin - for lunch at the bay & we walked over the bridge & spent time strolling on the beach. What memories that brought back! I've been married 28 years & have one computer geek son, 26. I'm a former newspaper editor & write a syndicated humor column. Comments: Graduated Madison in January 60 - have both January and June 60 logs. Went to the reunion of the class of 59 and 60 in Antuns in Queens - have the reunion book and I am still in touch with many of my old classmates - went to 254, Shellbank and Madison. Was born in Sheepshead Bay so I have all the old memories of when Sheepshead Bay was not built up. I watched most of the buildings going up. Waldbaums was Tappans. The original Tappans was on Emmons Avenue. Where they are building the new medical building was originally Eddy Sheers restaurant - way before Hamilton House, Beefsteak Charlie, etc. Trolly was on Ocean Avenue before the bus. One Hurricane, the fish floated down Ocean Avenue because the Bay rose so high. The original Lundy's was great - can't say the same for the new one. My uncle owned the open fruit store on the corner of Sheepshead Bay Road and Voorhies Avenue - "I may not be a poet, but when it comes to vegetables I know it" or "East or West, come to Bernie's for the best." Any one else want to talk about the original Sheepshead Bay in the good old days? After being out of Sheepshead Bay about 35 years, I moved back three years ago and still like it.

Comments: My address was 3061 Ave. X. this was the building on the corner of X, and Bragg St. Bruce is my younger brother. I went to P.S. 52, Shellbank JHS, and I was part of the first graduating class from Sheepshead. If anyone was looking for me I could usually be found hanging out at Ropage(aka Doc's) or Martin's on Nostrand Ave. Do you remember the Brooklyn Dodgers, Alan Freed, DooWop, the B36(Surf Ave.)Bus that would take us almost anywhere in the world, and the nightly Submarine Races at Plum Beach? Who can forget the Saddle Inn, and the rumors about what went on upstairs? Actually that was where George, the owner lived. What great times those were.

Bruce, this now has a life of it's own and it's great; thanks for all your hard work. i graduated SBHS 1967, terrific group of kids, now live on long island with harvey (Madison '67) and shana 14 and harrison 11. i manage harvey's family medicine office in-between all the carpools, laundry etc. life is busy but good. would love to hear from all the '67 Sing dancers, artists etc. although our schools here have nothing like it; my kids think it sounds "way kool"

Comments: Hi everyone. I graduated in '63 and have been corresponding with several classmates as a result of the "old" list. To put things in the proverbial nutshell: I taught in Bed-Stuy for a couple of years after graduating from B'klyn. Col,, got married, worked in the corp. trust dept. of Man-Hanover Corp, was a "valley girl" in LA for a year (hated it out there), moved to NJ, had 2 children (now 22 and 25 and super brainy and talented), got divorced, sold real estate, and now teach math in a vocational hs. I still love to read, cook, ballroom dance, etc. I am also NJ coordinator for the Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation, which supercedes all of the other volunteer jobs I've held through the years. This past August I had a kidney transplant after being on hemodialysis for 2 years. I n o longer play the violin but have taught myself how to play the piano. I am sad when I think that so many of our old hangouts are n o longer there. Seniors became Isabelles and now even that is closed (reportedly to reopen as a restaurant and OTB parlor). Jahn's has been several diners since it was Jahn's and now it's just an empty store. I'd love to hear from my old (whoops, is that the wrong word??) classmates.
