I started the Sheepshead Bay Page originally in 1996 (maybe even a bit earlier) to create a place that old friends could refer to and talk about then congregate online.
I had moved away from the Bay long ago and lost touch with many of my old friends. There was no Facebook at the time.
Once there was something to talk about I searched out some of the High School web pages and guest books.
At the time there were just guest books for baby boomers. I started posting a link back to my page.
I then created many guest books for each of the High Schools in the area. I would get requests for almost all the High Schools.
We had several mini reunions and some large ones. I was more interested in the minis as they were more for small groups of friends and not a graduating class.
It grew and I received hundreds of email from people thanking me for connecting old friends from 25 and 30 years.
I added pictures, links to peoples lives, etc.
I also added the memorial page with lost loved ones and then beefed it up after the tragedy of 9/11.
I have not been too active as of late, since I have found it easier on Facebook.
But anyone who has been to the Sheepshead Bay Page knows we were here first.
Enjoy.
